Christian Havet

Passionate about drawing since childhood, this committed visual artist dedicates his creations to the living. His works explore the human condition. For Christian, « We are the origin of what surrounds us. It’s up to us to – CREATE – the best to attract the best into our lives. »

Originally from Lille and trained as an architect, Christian Havet has lived in Munich and Berlin, depending on his exhibitions. After twelve years of artistic life in Paris, he finally settled in Nyons in 2022. For over 40 years, he has studied the interactions between living beings. Through his various artistic practices, he attempts to capture their complex interdependence and celebrates life within and around us. In these times of profound change and disruption, he invites everyone to use their creative freedom to imagine new ways of coexisting in our world. « I’ve often proposed creative processes involving audiences, techniques, and spaces of diverse nature and origin in an attempt to rethink the relationship between the viewer and the work of art. »

In 2000, he created an imposing installation in the St. Louis Chapel at La Salpétrière Hospital in Paris, which was primarily visited by patients. A moment of shared emotion, off the beaten track! During the 2009 Berlinade, he presented an unusual video performance inviting many Stars to express themselves from the heart, in 2018, he raised awareness among a large number of curious people during his street-art action: #Échoinglife, he was a great success the following year at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Val-de-Marne where he made the works of an exhibition speak in front of an audience of visitors … For two years, he has created a fresco with the young people of the ANAÏS association and he accompanies elderly people from Nyons in various artistic endeavors via the Communal Center for Social Action (CCAS). He also offers a « Creativity and Plastic Arts » workshop. Christian uses art to help let go and reconnect with oneself. His proposal: « Rediscover the creativity of our inner child, his smile, his pure heart and his dreams. Awaken our true BEING, trust in our intuitive abilities, in our imagination, to finally be able to « become » the changes we want to see in the world soon!

At the same time, he is preparing a traveling graphic and sound performance with Bertrand Merlier, entitled: « Dialogues de l’encre-monde » (Dialogues of the Ink-World), an experimental « pen/keyboard » duo led by two seasoned dreamers.

Christian also runs the Manufacture des Arts, located at 17 Chemin des Vivantes in Nyons. This space of hospitality, encounters, collaboration, and transmission, dedicated to multidisciplinary creation, is located in the former premises of the Nyons fruit paste factory.
